A Bit About Our Menus
Our Dining Room
Menu changes a little each month to accommodate fresh
seasonal and local ingredients. It consists of three
Categories:
Small
Plates: Great for sharing several items among friends,
or as an appetizer for one
Salads and
Soups: We use only the freshest lettuces, vegetables,
herbs, and dressing ingredients for our salads and
soups.
Entrees:
Our entrees are prepared using fresh ingredients and specially
chosen fish, seafood and meats, accompanied by sauces prepared fresh
for each plate.
Our Bar
Menu is available both in Casey's Bar and in the Dining
Room - just ask your server to bring you one. It consists mostly of
sandwiches and sides that are fabulous, like our Hinschberger
Sandwich - a tasty beef and sausage burger the grilled onions and a
BBQ sauce that is way good. Give the Bar Menu a try.
Desserts: Your server always has the list of
current desserts, and several of them are now displayed on the
beautiful plate located near the reception desk. Your server will
also be happy to bring that plate out for you to scrutinize before
making a decision.
Wines: Our Wine Menu now contains over 120
wines from around the world. We taste each wine before we put it on
the list (now that's a tough job but someone has to do it), and we
are quite proud of the wines we are able to offer. Please feel free
to ask me for recommendations or to just discuss wines in general -
one of my favorite subjects.

Featured Wines and Drinks for May:
For the month of
May, Our Featured
Wines Are:
-
2005 Nobilo Icon
- A very nice medium bodied wine from Rueda,
Spain. This wine goes well with most foods as it is so well
balanced.
-
2005
Walla Walla Vintners
Cuvee This great wine from Walla Walla
received 92 points from Wine Spectator, and has heady
aromatics of dark cherry and spice highlight the nose.
Bright blackberry fruit combines with vanilla notes mid
palate framed with good acidity. The finish shows off well
integrated tannins with a hint of clove that lingers. Well
worth trying!
Our Featured wines are 15% off by the bottle, and
excellently priced at $6.00 per glass for the Nobilo
Icon, and $9.00 per glass for the Walla Walla Vintner's
Cuvee. Try them - expand your palate!
Our featured drinks are the Razzle Dazzle Martini
and the Lady Godiva Martini, since this is Martini May
- each is priced for the month at $6.50.
Wine and Music Event - Friday, May
30th. The Cellar will be conducting
a large (hopefully outdoor) wine tasting and sales
event that includes wines from around the world by
BRJ Distributing, and we will be
highlighting Spanish wines. This event
will offer excellent pricing on bottles and cases
of wine, and Qwahitas (Bryan and I) will be
playing some very nice acoustic light rock for your enjoyment
while tasting. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for
more info.

Notes from Scott
Scotch Club Starting Up
Well, the Scotch Club is already going
as several Members could not wait until May 1st to get at
it. Founding Member, Nancy Caldwell
(pictured to the right), being one of them. Nancy is
actually the one who recommended the concept to us and gave us
guidance as to how to make it work based on a similar club she
belonged to in Boise. Anyway, if you want to be
a member, just ask Jared to set you up with
a membership card and he will track your
tastings.

Now this is way cool: Two of our first Members
and our very first International Members are Randall
and Anet Bargelt - who are the parents of
Abby Beard (our very first bar
tender). Randall and Anet currently live in Scotland and
will be tracking their memberships at what is
becoming our new Sister Pub in Scotland: Forss House, which is
a small 14 bedroom hotel with a restaurant and
pub/bar that is just a few minutes walk through the woods
from their house. The picture to the left is their
cozy bar - they have a fireplace too. And below right is a
picture of Forss House from the countryside. Wow!!

Forss House owner, Anne Mackinzie, has nearly
300 single malts in the house (more than even Mick
Ohman has), and is excited to become our Sister Pub in
Scotland. Which means, if you are headed to Scotland, it is a
must to visit Forss House and the Bargelts. I can
already tell that the Forss House will be a great Sister
Pub, very welcoming, and a prime location for Michele and I to
visit some day and I hope soon - I will look very much forward
to meeting Anne Mackinzie and seeing the Bargelts again.
Martini
Class - May's 3rd Tuesday Event - on May 20th at 6:30 in
Casey's Bar. Jared will be teaching
some of the fine points to making great Martinis, as well as
sharing recipes. Martie will have light appetizers to go with
the Martinis, and there will be practice sessions and plenty
of tasting as well. The cost is $25 per person. Sign up early
as there is only room for 20 in this class. And bring
your request with you if you are seeking a recipe.
Carol Shelton in the
House.
Last Friday, we had the delightful pleasure of hosting a
small wine tasting and then dinner for Carol Shelton,
owner and winemaker - Carol Shelton Wines. Carol
embodies the Zen of Zin. She makes several fabulous Zinfandels
- we currently have her Karma Zin on our wine menu, and we
plan to bring in her delicious Rose for at
least the Summer. Carol was the winemaker for Windsor
Wines for 19 years before deciding to start her own winery.
She is very gifted and knows so much about wines, especially
Zins. She and her husband, Mitch, fell in love the The
Cellar and our staff, and particularly enjoyed the several
Small Plates they had for dinner. They were accompanied
by Greg and Casey from JR Distributing - that's how we get
Carol's wine here in Southeast
Idaho. Martie (pictured her
with Carol), is working with Carol to get her
back soon for a Carol Shelton Winemaker's Dinner, which
will be an ultimate treat for those who attend. Stay
Tuned.
