Featured Wines and Drinks for May:
For the month of May, Our Featured Wines Are:
    • Icon2005 Nobilo IconA very nice Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. The Nobilo shows a pale lemon color with green tints and a brilliant clarity.  It has a concentrated bouquet of pineapple, gooseberry and nettles.  This wine is complex and powerful, with excellent structure and palate weight.  Displaying distinct Marlborough characters of pineapple, grapefruit and nettles, this wine has a smooth, viscous mouth feel with a refreshing balance of tangy acidity and natural grape sugars.
    • 2005 Walla Walla Vintners Cuvee  This great wine from Walla Walla received 92 points from Wine Spectator, and has heady aromatics of dark cherry and spice highlight the nose. Bright blackberry fruit combines with vanilla notes mid palate framed with good acidity. The finish shows off well integrated tannins with a hint of clove that lingers. Well worth trying!
Our Featured wines are 15% off by the bottle, and excellently priced at $6.00 per glass for the Nobilo Icon, and $9.00 per glass for the Walla Walla Vintner's Cuvee. Try them - expand your palate!

Our featured drinks are the Razzle Dazzle Martini and the Lady Godiva Martini, since this is Martini May - each is priced for the month at $6.50.

Wine Tasting and Music Event - Friday, May 30th. The Cellar will be conducting a large (hopefully outdoor) wine tasting and sales event that includes wines from around the world by BRJ Distributing, and we will be highlighting Spanish wines.  This event will offer excellent pricing on bottles and cases of wine, and Qwahitas (Bryan and I) will be playing some very nice acoustic light rock for your enjoyment while tasting. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more info.

    Notes from Scott

Martinis3Martini Class - May's 3rd Tuesday Event - on May 20th at 6:30 in Casey's Bar.  Jared will be teaching some of the fine points to making great Martinis, as well as sharing recipes. Martie will have light appetizers to go with the Martinis, and there will be practice sessions and plenty of tasting as well. The cost is $25 per person. Sign up early as there is only room for 20 in this class.  And bring your request with you if you are seeking a recipe.

LaphroaigScotch Club - We already have 20 potential members after just one week.  This is very cool. I am even joining the club even though I have never really like Scotch - it is time to develop my palate a bit, according to our founding members Nancy Caldwell and Mick Ohman.  I tried the Auchenstrusianbergerstein (I think I spelled that way wrong and made it sound like a German Scotch, but that's OK), and it was quite good. I don't know about some of the more peaty scotches however, like the Laphroaig shown to the right here - we'll see.

Mom's DayMother's Day - Here's hoping we see you on Mother's Day.  Mother's are the most important people on earth from my perspective, and the celebration of our moms' roles in the family, society, and all of humanity cannot be underestimated.  I know this by just watching Michele and her tremendous influence for good with our children, and by remembering and still knowing the influence for good that my mother had on my brother and sister and I.  My mom will not be here this weekend but plans to visit later this month, which we are looking forward to. So Mom - have a wonderful Mother's Day we will see you soon.
